Menagerie of Fibre Glass Animals!

Strange title, but it actually makes sense later, I promise.

Two weekends ago I went with Christine to the Gilles Street markets! Its a once a month event held on Sunday where local designers and shoppers sell their used and new clothes- its thrift shopping in a market! I had no intention of buying anything because I'm still trying to save money, but I couldn't stop myself and ended up getting a few things... to be fair, it only cost me $30!
I wore a new wig from Brightlele
It was meant to be more blonde, which I was kind of disappointed about, but I went "meh" and couldn't be bothered contacting them about it so I've kept it. Haha! It makes my eyes look really blue, so I guess I cant complain! XD
This is all the stuff I got from the markets! Two skirts (one black, one patterned with black frills), a studded shouldered black jumper, a really pretty (brand new!) chiffon shirt with black lace and black collar/cuffs, and finally a cream corset top with frills.
Christine had a very successful day, she spent about $80 and got three over-flowing bags full of clothes!

I've decided to put aside $100 and go to the next one next month, hopefully I can have as much luck as last time!

Yesterday Kelly needed some help with moving some things into her new store, so I was happy to help out! :D
I decided to try out some new lenses for my lens review blog >>
here<< and I found myself cam-whoring in the window because the sun had finally came out after days of Winter rain. haha!
After the first car-load was delivered and we carried things back and forth from the car, as we were driving back to Kelly's to collect the next load she mentioned she wanted to visit a big furniture store to investigate for her store.
I was more than a little surprised when we discovered that not only did it have furniture (some very lovely things, might I add) but it had a WHOLE section full of life-size fibre glass animals!!
I had to sneak some photos. I think this zebra was my favourite!

See what I mean by menagerie?! So cool!!

Giant shark heads, and a huge hammer-head suspended from the roof!

AND A LIFE SIZE T-REX.
At first I didn't know what kind of person would want fibre-glass animal(s) in their home. Then I realised: I'm the type of person who would want a fibre-glass animal(s) in my home. Haha!!
If I had that much money, why wouldn't I have a huge menagerie of fibre glass animals hanging out in my home/garden?! XD

After my excitement, we picked up the last load of things from Kelly's house, and she treated me to lunch in thanks for helping her <3

As you can tell, I still use my old Iphone 3, thats why the photos are so grainy! I'm hoping to pop into a phone store tonight and get an Iphone 5 because the plans to own one are now cheaper. So hopefully the next proper post I'll do will have clear phone-photos! :D
I'm actually off home for a week on Wednesday- leaving Mikey here in the city to enjoy a Carrie-free few days. haha! I'm really looking forward to seeing my family!! And having a wood fire to heat my butt up in front of.
This is me otherwise:
Yeah, hard to tell, but I have to stand/squat over this little heater if I want to warm my butt up. Haha!

Besides going home, I've been preparing for that time of the year again... yep! AVCon!
These are the two cosplay's I plan on doing this year:
I'm bringing Usagi back! (yeah!)
Because she is my favourite character ever, I decided to cosplay her again, but this time in her high school uniform from the last story arch (coincides with Sailor Stars on the show). I'm doing the manga version because I'm a Sailor Moon manga snob >_> lol!! I'm just happy I have her and Mamoru's engagement ring, because I think that adds the perfect touch <3
On Sunday, Kelly, Bee and myself are doing a group cosplay from Magic Knights Rayearth!
I'm Umi, the blue-haired one :)

And of course I'll be wearing lolita on Sunday too, because I am hosting the lolita parade this year! *gulp* I'm not very nervous, so I think I should be ok! haha! But it means having to get changed out of my Umi cosplay and into lolita, and then back into the cosplay again! haha! I'm really looking forward to it, lets just hope I dont screw up/fall over on stage! :)

Anyway, I'll update soon, probably once I'm home from my little trip! :D I'll try to take photos so I can make a nice blog post about what I did in my home town.

Thanks for reading! <3

Adventuring

The past weekend was a long weekend! And because I missed out on the AVCon prom the weekend before, I was determind to make up for it.
Unfortunately, it didn't start out too well. Poor Mikey got food poisoning and was unwell all day Saturday. I spent it watching tv. Lol.

Sunday was an improvement! After a day in bed Mikey was feeling better so we ventured out to have lunch together. I was insistant on visiting FruzBerry, a frozen yoghurt place, because I absolutely LOVE them. My favourite flavours are coconut and banana- the banana taste like the old flavor of Nesquick before they changed it!
After a wander around the shops, we got a dvd, and went home so Mikey could rest some more. While he slept I made some chilli-con-carne. I'm not a wizz in the kitchen, but I was pretty proud of the results. I threw in a cup of rice to make the mixture go further, and we've been having it for dinner/lunch for 4 days now. Haha!

Monday was a day I had been looking forward to. I'd been bugging Mikey about visiting the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens for a while, and because it was a lovely day (no rain! Yay!) he finally caved in.
We invited Heather along for the journey, and drove up there all together! It felt like an adventure.

The gardens were just beautiful. It is big enough that you can find places to sit and you wont see another person for most of the day. The thing I liked most about it was the magical feel of it- walking through the huge trees with fallen red leaves, or ducking through ferns in the rainforest gully: it was like stepping into a Lord of the Rings or fantasy movie.
The longer we where there the more inspired I felt. I would really love to take up a group of friends in fantasy costumes and spend a day there taking photos and enjoying the magic! There were so many places that I could imagine a nymph or fae peaking out of. My favourite illustrated books growing up were by Shirley Barber- and never before had I felt more like I'd woken up in one of her beautiful books.

After a few hours, we were all decidedly hungry, so left to go get some Nandos. Haha! Not exactly 'adventuring' food, but it was delicious all the same.
If you were wondering- I did take photos of Mikey but he doesn't like having his photo taken so I didn't upload them XD haha! And I wore a wig to keep my head warm. See, sometimes I'm clever ;D

It was a great day! Something I really needed- as I fear I'm already getting the Winter Blues. Being outside in fresh air is essential to this mermaid!

Thanks to being so inspired, I tried to make a 'modern day adventurer' outfit using things in my wardrobe. I'd like to make a proper costume one day! Haha!

Thanks for Reading! :D

The Winter Mermaid

Whats this?
An actual outfit post?
Haha!
I made an effort to try get nice photos for you all ^^

Outfit for going out for dinner on a colder winter night.
Tights: side-street shop in Shibuya
Shoes: Grail
Sunglasses: Prada

This dress I initially purchased for my birthday in December last year! But it took a while to be made, and by the time it arrived it was past my birthday- and I had not realised how warm this dress was! Not suitable for Australian summers, but good for winter :D
I paired it with my new silver shell bag from Wonder Molly. I almost died when I saw it online, and within a few seconds I had purchased it! Haha!
As you can see, I also discovered some cool effects in Photoshop >_>

Make-up for the night.
I wore an auburn wig, which looks brown until in the light. I'm not used to darker hair! And I also put on darker lipgloss, which was entirely new to me too. Cant hurt trying new things I guess! haha!

Winter Comes, Followed by Grey Waters

It is now the 4th day of Winter here in Australia. And I haven't started out very well- I already have the flu.
This was me last night. True camera-whore. Taking photos of myself even when I'm sick.

Because of this, I missed out on the AVCon Ball which was held Saturday night. I'm still suffering self-pity as I had altered a dress to wear especially for this event. :( Now I dont know where I'll ever wear it to: its a ball gown!
So I'm thinking of having a mini-shoot in it, themed 'marshmallow' because that's what I felt like in it! haha!

******
Anywhos, I thought I would do a bit of spam of myself from the last few weeks...
Can you tell already I'm unhappy about winter? haha. So many layers just to keep warm!

Tried my first 'proper' hime-gyaru outfit for some lens reviews. I actually really liked it! But I used super dramatic eye makeup so I think if I wore this again I would do something less big. haha!
Dress: Liz Lisa replica
 Underskirt: Liz Lisa
Cardigan : Valley Girl
 Shoes: DreamV
Necklace/hair accessories: Angelic Pretty
Wig: Cyperous

And some more mermaid spam!
I wanted to try out a different look, so I wore a pink Rhapsody-style wig with my hand-made circlet and some fake blue coral! I am wearing a bra, but its hard to see... I think it looks kinda cool!
This was also for a lens review. You should've seen me trying to put my tail on, then proceeding to try get photographs. Quite the scene. haha!

New favourite chocolate (besides white chocolate of course! hehe!). I've asked Mikey to grab some more for me when he finishes work, as I'm still at home sick and I NEED SOME CHOCOLATE.

Another (boring) winter outfit, with my new warm coat from Grail.

Found a really beautiful glass necklace at a store! Its shaped like a shell and changes colour in the light, isn't it pretty? <3

A few weeks ago I also got asked to model for a friends Mermaid Tail business!
Here are some of the photos:
All the girls <3

I also held a give-away on my Facebook page recently!
The winner won this original artwork by myself, as an A3 poster! (Obviously without the big watermark, haha!)
It was to thank everyone for 300 Likes!

Anyways, I think that is all I need to catch up on at the moment!
I hope everyone is well, and not sick like me! :P

I'd also like to hint that my Pozible Program is still running!:
So please spread the above link around if you can, I really hope this dream can become a reality!
